Thanks for taking some action on this, people like this need to be stopped! I am a council animal control officer and can tell you she is certainly breaking many local laws.
The dogs wouldn't be registered, you can't have more than 2 dogs unless you have a permit for 3 max. And the permit needs to have inspections carried out every year.
It's also illegal to sell an unchipped animal.
Selling dogs under age is not lawful either.
I really hope this woman an be stopped!!!! :/
Ginger i'm in north qld, townsville.
Oh wow. I've only just caught up since my first reply, and I'm with everyone else - this woman makes me feel sick. I'm just so thankful you've picked up on this jesses girl, and that you're doing something about it. I can't really get over how many people must be seeing exactly what you're seeing, and actually buying these very young puppies, and they're not doing anything about it!
And the one you asked about, she's been trying to 'get rid of it' since it was one week old?? What it wrong with her?? Honestly, if she can't look after them when they come, get the dogs desexed!
So glad you're reporting this today, would love to hear the results - hopefully they're all taken ASAP. I also thought, if you are going there to see about that puppy, is there a chance you could get any photos or video? A vet report on that puppy might be helpful too. Good luck!
Oh my gosh, what a day. When we went to the rspca and i showed the lady all the posts and photos, she said one of the bi***** looks familiar. So she asked the other lady if shes seen her and she said that they put her down 2 weeks ago, she was vicious and had heartworm i think she said? They didn't know where she came from, somebody found her and tried to call her over but she charged at them, so they just called the rspca to pick her up. They lady who was with us today said that it was hopeless even trying to retrain the dog, she was that untrusting. She took all the posts and got her adress off me, she said she will try her hardest to get someone out today. I asked her if we should go and pick the puppy up, she said no. The police & the rspca will be working together when they go there, the police present because of the mention of a gun. Our council couldnt do anything. Is there anybody else i should be contacting? I've reported my old neighbour before and nothing was done about it. His dog had severe mange, his feet were always bleeding. I can't remember who asked but she has nearly 600 friends.
Jesses girl, that is so sad about the dog who was captured :( Unfortunately I can't see this ending well for the remainig dogs either, they're going to have some pretty big issues the poor things.
I've got everything crossed they get out there today and they get the help they need. I don't know of anyone else you could contact, but I also wouldn't want anyone to interfere with the RSPCA and police procedures, they do a good job.
I hope they get out there quickly. Are they going to let you know what happens? Good on you for doing something about it
Good on you. This whole situation breaks my heart.
Can people like this be jailed or do they just get a slap on the wrist?
I think if the situation is bad enough there can be pretty tough penalties, but from what I've seen they're not tough enough or they just get a lame fine. I'm not sure there are jail penalties. The town I'm from, a woman dropped a bag of kittens down a well. Thankfully they landed on a ledge, someone heard them crying and 3 out of 4 survived. She got a $200 fine :shakehead:
I really hope she gets the max penalty, whatever that may be
Depends really. I think if it's severe and repeated they can be jailed, but it's rare. More likely to be hefty fines and prevented from owning animals in future.
In the last election in Vic, the RSPCA were given more power so they can enter into properties that they believe are puppy farms and that the penalties are around $30,000. I'm not sure how it is for the rest of the country.
This is what I found that defines a puppy/kitten farm
The stuff I've been reading is horrible. In one instance, a couple had 59 dogs and they got permission to keep 5. Then they were fighting the council because the council wanted the puppy enclosures dismantled and they didn't want to do it. That just says to me that they wanted to continue. They should all be put into the same conditions they keep their pets.:
The universally agreed definition of a puppy farm includes:
*****es and puppies being kept in very poor conditions
there is overbreeding (too many litters per female)
there is inbreeding (mating of close relatives) which may lead to genetic defects
there is minimal, poor or no veterinary care
there is poor hygiene
the housing conditions are not suited to the needs of the animals
there is no adequate socialisation program
animals are kept in cages or runs for long periods without regular or adequate exercise or play
there is often poor nutrition of the mothers (*****es)
there may be falsified or erroneous (wrong) certificates of registration, pedigrees or genetic background.
crossbred, hybrid or purebred pups may be produced and this may include registered breeder status.
puppies may be sold through the internet, newspaper ads, from a house, or through pet shops, in other words all retail outlets that you would find for any puppy.
I'm not sure what I find more disgraceful. The fact that this woman is mistreating her animals, or the fact that 600 facebook friends sat and watched this happening without taking some sort of action. Good on you for helping protect these dogs. I really hope they are all rescued today and this woman is properly dealt with.
OMG, I am disgusted, but not surprised. I am studying vet nursing and work voluntarily at a local vet. Some clients have total disregard for their animals quality of life. This lady must have a screw loose somewhere. No decent human being would put their animals through that.
Sorry if it sounds harsh, but maybe someone should tie her up in the backyard and shoot her when a problem arises?
Gosh please keep us posted, I will be worrying about those dogs tonight :(
Papers & TV shows loooooovvvvvveeeeeeeeeee this type of story. A tip off maybe????????
Great job today jesses_girl. Hopefully the police and RSPCA can do something here. It is very sad to think these dogs probably won't be capable of rehousing but as opposed as I am to it, being put down is a much, much better option to the life they are suffering through now.
I've reported a few cases of cruelty over the years and while I will continue to do it, the supposed penalties that are handed out are a joke. I can't imagine how the RSPCA officers continue to do their jobs - they must feel like they're just bashing their heads against the wall with the futility of it all. Years ago at the place I kept my horse there was a horse butchered in a paddock for dog meat simply because her owner couldn't get her to load onto the float. Right there in front of a dozen other horses he did it. You know what he got? A warning never to do it again. Oooooh. That's going to stop him from ever hurting another animal again won't it :shakehead:
that is discusting.
her name isnt donna by chance is it? it sounds like someone that was on my friends a while ago, she was breeding and selling as "game dogs" to known dog fighting rings.
i hope they act on ot soon, thaty many dogs in one house they would have a pack mentality by now and there would be no hope of training them out of it.
Just wondering if there's any update on this Jesses Girl? Hopefully the dogs are being looked after
Yeah i was thinking about this thread yesterday :)
Hopefully there has been a good outcome.
I called them yesterday, wrote a whole big post but i lost it! I dont have much time atm but in short. All the dogs have been destroyed  I'll post more when ds goes down for the night.
Oh no :( Very very sad, but it seems as though that's much better than the way they were being kept. I hope she's getting some kind of punishment, and not allowed to own animals again. I'm so happy you reported this and the overbreeding won't be going on anymore, good on you for seeing this through.
Oh poor dogs. I guess the upside is they won't suffer anymore.
So sad, those poor dogs, what a horrible woman! You did the right thing, at least they're not suffering anymore.
Oh no :(
Poor innocent things.... :(
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - I wonder what the kids are up to....Better go!
I know it might seem very sad that the dogs have been destroyed - BUT, I have no doubt that these dogs were sufferring and would definitely not have been able to be rehomed. They were likely in very poor health. At least we can know that there won't be any more poor puppies being shipped off to bad owners who possibly had bad intentions for them as well. The cycle has been broken.
I hope they are up for some big fines though.
